How does technology affect people? We interact with practical applications of scientific knowledge, more commonly known as technologies, on a daily basis.
We wake to an alarm clock, cook breakfast on a gas-powe…red or electric stove, and go to school by car, bus, or bicycle. We work on computers in lighted classrooms, complete our assignments using pen and paper, and perhaps watch television or listen to music before going to sleep.
Sedentary Behavior, Obesity and Technology An increase in exposure to technology goes hand in hand with a decrease in physical activity. As children spend more time sitting in front of the TV or computer, they spend less time outside running around and burning off calories -- and energy. Technology Make Many People Obise Essay Why Technology Makes Us Fat: the Answer Isn't as Simple as You Think Posted by Juliana Weiss-Roessler on . Obesity results from an imbalance between the amount of energy taken in, through eating and drinking, and the amount of energy spent on metabolism and physical activity.
Over the years, technologies have been invented to address society's problems or to fulfill its growing desire for speed and convenience. It's amazing to think that up until the last century, most people had to go outside of their homes to use the bathroom and wash up.
Indoor plumbing, which is what allows you to take a bath inside your home, had only just been invented. Here's something interesting to note: Though new technologies might appear radically different from the ones they're intended to replace, more often than not, the old technology remains present in the new.
Take, for example, a flashlight. It's superior to a candle in some respects: A match isn't needed to make it work, it won't set fire to other things, and it projects light farther. But essentially, a flashlight, like a candle, is still just a source of light.
While you may be able to use any number of technologies without knowing what makes them tick, exploring their inner workings might encourage you to develop new uses for them, or even invent new technologies to improve them.
When you look closely at computers, for instance, they're not much more than pieces of metal, plastic, and circuitry. It's a wonder that these parts -- each of them not capable of much on their own -- work together to enable us to do schoolwork, operate traffic signals, control aircraft in flight, and design so many of the products we use.
Why do people have technology? Humans have evolved to have smarter and more capable brains. This allowed inventions that have created our lives easier and more efficent.
For instance, the spear, a weapon …that pierced and killed your prey easier and faster than your fists. Now, technology is an invention that is complex, but your brain has otten smarter and can now use materials to create such.
The people created The Wheel, Farming Innovations, and our first written languae. How is technology harmful to people? Most technology does not promote exercise. TV, cars, video games Most technology can cause a bit of social detachment of those around you. Business and economies have shifted from local to global size.Too many social medias, tablets, tvs, and electronics in general!
People are so obsessed with having the latest technology so they can sit around for days at a time and use it.
People are fatter and sicker than ever before in history. Here are 12 graphs that show the true reasons why people are getting fat. As Jessica pointed out last week, the rate of obesity has increased from 1 in 10 people in to 1 in 3 people today!
That’s absolutely terrible!
That’s absolutely terrible! This is leading to a growing number of diseases such as diabetes, coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, and strokes. Though, while people are living longer, they are spending more years living with injury and illness. We have to acknowledge more people who are sick and fewer people to treat them.
We need to stop treating the "symptoms" of obesity and start treating the cause. But technology is not the problem, it's the solution.
Why people become overweight. Updated: April 11, Published: June, Children don't exercise as much in school, often because of cutbacks in physical education classes. Many people drive to work and spend much of the day sitting at a computer terminal.
